O Allah, grant me well-being in my body. O Allah, grant me well-being in my hearing. O Allah, grant me well-being in my sight. There is no god but You. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from disbelief and poverty. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave. There is no god but You.
Allahumma 'afini fi badani, Allahumma 'afini fi sam'i, Allahumma 'afini fi basari, la ilaha illa anta. Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal kufri wal faqri, Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min 'adhabil qabri, la ilaha illa anta.
When to Read
This profound supplication is recited in the morning, after Fajr prayer, as part of our daily remembrance (adhkar). It's a powerful way to start the day, seeking Allah's protection over our physical senses and safeguarding us from disbelief, poverty, and the torment of the grave. By seeking refuge in Allah for our hearing and sight, we are also implicitly seeking protection from the misuse of these faculties, including hurtful or divisive speech.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and full presence, visualizing Allah's protection encompassing you. Utter each phrase clearly, reflecting on the immense blessings of health and safety you are asking for. It is best recited three times, as is the practice for many morning supplications seeking refuge.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua is a comprehensive request for Allah's protection, covering physical health, sensory well-being, and spiritual safety. By asking for 'afiyah' (well-being) in our body, hearing, and sight, we are asking Allah to keep them sound and free from harm. This protection extends to guarding our speech, as sound hearing and sight are often the precursors to what we say. The dua also shields us from disbelief (kufr), poverty (faqr), and the punishment of the grave ('adhab al-qabr), demonstrating its vast scope and importance for a Muslim's daily life. It's a profound affirmation of Tawhid (Oneness of Allah) and reliance on Him for all matters.

Narrated by Abdur Rahman bin Abi Bakra: My father said, 'I used to say this prayer for the Prophet (ﷺ) morning and evening: "O Allah! Grant me health in my body. O Allah! Grant me good hearing. O Allah! Grant me good sight. There is no god but You. O Allah! I seek refuge in You from disbelief and poverty. O Allah! I seek refuge in You from the torment of the grave. There is no god but You." I said to him (my father), 'O my father! You have been saying this prayer for the last ten years.' He replied, 'O my son! The Prophet (ﷺ) used to say this prayer and I have liked this prayer.'
