Morning Dua for Protection from Illness and Harm

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الَّذِي لَا يَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهِ شَيْءٌ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِي السَّمَاءِ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ

In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing can cause harm on earth or in the heavens, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.

Bismillahilladhi la yadhurru ma'asmihi shay'un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama'i wa huwas-Samee'ul-Aleem

When to Read

This powerful dua is recommended to be recited in the morning after Fajr prayer, and again in the evening after Asr prayer. It's a shield, a spiritual armor we put on each day to protect ourselves from all sorts of harm, including physical ailments.

How to Read

Recite it with sincerity and full conviction in Allah's power. Focus on the meaning as you say it, visualizing Allah's protection enveloping you. It is recommended to recite it three times in the morning and three times in the evening to ensure its full benefit.

Virtues & Benefits

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ informed us that whoever recites this dua in the morning and evening three times, nothing will harm him. This includes protection from physical illnesses, calamities, and even other forms of harm. It fosters a deep reliance on Allah and a strong belief in His dominion over all affairs. While not exclusively for heart disease, this general protection encompasses all forms of physical ailments that can afflict us, including those affecting the heart.

Narrated by Uthman ibn Affan (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "He who says: 'Bismillahilladhi la yadhurru ma'asmihi shay'un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama'i wa huwas-Samee'ul-Aleem' (In the name of Allah, with Whose name nothing can cause harm on earth or in the heavens, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing) – three times in the morning, will not be afflicted by any calamity until the morning of the next day. And he who says it in the morning three times, will not be afflicted by any calamity until the evening of that day." — Sunan Abi Dawud 5087. It is also reported in Sunan At-Tirmidhi 3388, and graded Sahih.
