Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan

This beautiful dua is recommended to be recited immediately after the Fajr (dawn) prayer. It's a powerful way to start your day with a sincere request to Allah, setting your intentions on seeking what is beneficial for your deen (religion) and dunya (worldly life).

How to Read

Recite this dua with a sincere heart, focusing on the meaning of each word. Raise your hands in supplication as you do so, following the practice of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Reflect on your intention: asking Allah for knowledge that benefits you, provision that is pure, and actions that are pleasing to Him.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encapsulates a comprehensive request for the best in this life and the next. Seeking 'ilm naafi' (beneficial knowledge) helps us understand our deen better, guides our actions, and brings us closer to Allah. Asking for rizqan tayyib (good provision) ensures that our sustenance is blessed and pure. And requesting 'amalan mutaqabbal (accepted deeds) means our efforts in worship and good actions are recognized and rewarded by Allah. It's a concise yet profound supplication taught by our beloved Prophet ﷺ.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) performed the morning prayer, he would say: 'O Allah, I ask You for knowledge that is useful, for good provision, and for deeds that are accepted.' (Sunan Ibn Majah 925, graded Hasan by scholars like Al-Albani).
