اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلاً مُتَقَبَّلاً.
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and acceptable deeds.
Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.
When to Read
This dua is recommended to be recited after the Fajr prayer itself, as taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. However, the *intention* and *asking* for strength to wake for Fajr should begin the night before. We can make a general supplication throughout the day and night for ease in performing this important prayer, but this specific dua is for *after* you have prayed Fajr, acknowledging Allah's blessings.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincere intention and focus. Raise your hands slightly if possible, as is customary when making supplication. Understand the meaning of each part: seeking knowledge that benefits, provision that is pure and lawful, and deeds that are accepted by Allah. This acceptance of deeds often begins with fulfilling our obligations like Fajr.
Virtues & Benefits
This powerful dua encompasses seeking the best in this life and the hereafter. Beneficial knowledge guides us, good provision sustains us lawfully, and accepted deeds are the ultimate goal of our worship. By seeking these, we are implicitly asking Allah to enable us to perform the actions that lead to them, including the crucial act of waking for Fajr. The strength to perform any good deed, especially Fajr, comes directly from Allah. The hadith where this dua is found also mentions that if a Muslim dies at the end of the day, this dua ensures their entry into Paradise. (Sahih Muslim 77)

It was narrated that Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: When the Prophet ﷺ said the Salam of the morning prayer, he would say: Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan. (O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and acceptable deeds).
