Source & Authentication

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'The believers are the mirror to each other.' (Abu Dawud 4918). While this specific dua is found in Ibn Hibban, the general principle of reflecting on Allah's blessings when seeing oneself is established. The mentioned dua is recited when looking in the mirror, as narrated by Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet ﷺ used to say when he looked in the mirror: 'O Allah, make my nature beautiful, just as You have made my physical creation beautiful, and make my character beautiful.' (Reported by Ibn Hibban).
