Virtues & Benefits
This powerful dua, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, encapsulates a comprehensive request for spiritual and personal well-being. Seeking guidance (Huda) helps you make the right choices in your new surroundings. Piety (Tuqa) strengthens your resolve to stay on the right path despite external pressures. Chastity ('Afaf) protects you from falling into sin or compromising your values. Contentment (Ghina) cultivates inner peace and reduces reliance on external validation, which is crucial when feeling isolated. It equips you to face challenges with resilience and trust in Allah's plan.
Source & Authentication
It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'No one of you should ask for death, nor wish for it before he meets it. It will be said: 'O Allah, let me die,' if he has to live, then let him live... And ask Allah for His Bounties (Fadth). For verily, Allah likes to be asked and the best of worship is to await relief.' This hadith has a broader context, but the Prophet's ﷺ emphasis on asking Allah for His bounties and support encompasses seeking guidance, strength, and well-being as mentioned in the dua.
