Dua for Inner Strength and Meaning When Feeling Unseen

Loneliness & Isolation
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 735

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلاً مُتَقَبَّلاً

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and acceptable deeds.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan

When to Read

Recite this dua after Fajr (morning) prayer. When you find yourself in social settings where you feel overlooked or unheard, this invocation can help reorient your focus from the external validation you might crave to the internal strength and purpose Allah grants. It's a way to remind yourself that your worth isn't measured by how others perceive you, but by your connection with Allah and your sincere efforts.

How to Read

Raise your hands in supplication as you normally would for dua. Begin with praising Allah and sending blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Recite this specific dua with sincerity and a hopeful heart. Reflect on the meaning of each part: asking for knowledge that benefits you and others, provision that is pure and lawful, and deeds that are accepted by your Creator. Maintain a state of Wudu (ablution) if possible, and face the Qiblah (direction of prayer).

Virtues & Benefits

This comprehensive dua, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, is incredibly powerful for cultivating inner peace and a sense of purpose, which are vital when feeling unseen. By asking for beneficial knowledge, you seek wisdom that guides your actions and perspectives, helping you to understand your own value beyond social recognition. Asking for goodly provision reminds you that Allah is your Sustainer, and true sustenance comes from Him, not from the approval of people. Most importantly, asking for acceptable deeds shifts your focus to pleasing Allah, making your actions meaningful regardless of who witnesses them. This redirects your energy from seeking external validation to internal spiritual growth and fulfillment, a profound source of strength when feeling isolated or ignored.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'None of you should say: O Allah, forgive me if You wish, O Allah, have mercy on me if You wish. You should be firm in your supplication, for Allah does what He wills. None of you should say: O Allah, forgive me if You wish, O Allah, have mercy on me if You wish. O Allah, grant me sustenance if You wish. You should ask Allah with firm conviction in His response, for there is no greater compulsion upon Allah than Him.' (Later in the same narration, he mentioned this specific dua): 'When any one of you finishes the morning prayer, he should say: Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.' (O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and acceptable deeds.)
