Dua for Contentment with Allah's Presence

Loneliness & Isolation
Sahih HadithSunan An-Nasa'i 1307

O Allah, I ask You for bliss on the day of satisfaction, and security on the day of fear. And I ask You for steadfastness before You, and longing to meet You. And that You do not veil me from remembering You through heedlessness, and that You give me the choice when You decree a matter, to make Your obedience the most beloved thing to me, more than myself, and my family, and the cold water.

Allahumma inni as'aluka na'iman yawm al-akl, wal-amna yawm al-khawf, wal-qamita bayna yadayk, wash-shawqa ila liqa'ik, wa an tahjubani 'an dhikrika bil-ghafilah, wa an tukhayyirini idha ahbabta amran ta'atika, wa an taj'ala hubbaka ahabba ilayya min nafsi wa min ahli wa minal-ma'il-barid.

When to Read

This is a profound dua to recite regularly, especially during times when you might feel distant from Allah, or when seeking a deeper connection. It’s particularly fitting after prayers or during the quiet moments of the night, when the heart is more inclined towards supplication and reflecting on one's relationship with the Creator.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention and a humble heart. Raise your hands as you supplicate, a practice of the Prophet ﷺ. Imagine Allah's presence with you as you speak, feeling the weight of the words and their deep meaning. True contentment comes from feeling Allah's closeness, and this dua helps foster that.

Virtues & Benefits

This supplication is comprehensive, asking for several essential spiritual states. It seeks the 'bliss on the day of satisfaction' – a state of inner peace and gratitude regardless of external circumstances. It also asks for 'security on the day of fear,' meaning peace amidst life's trials and tribulations, and ultimately, security on the Day of Judgment. The request for 'longing to meet You' is the pinnacle of a believer's hope, signifying a deep love and readiness for their return to Allah. This dua helps in purifying the heart from heedlessness and prioritizing Allah's will and love above all else, leading to a profound sense of contentment rooted in one's connection with Him.
