Dua for Leaving the Masjid: Seeking Allah's Protection from Fitnah

Leaving Masjid
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 494

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ.

O Allah, I ask You from Your bounty.

Allahumma inni as'aluka min fadlik.

When to Read

This dua is recited upon exiting the masjid. It's a beautiful way to transition from a state of worship and spiritual connection back into the world, asking Allah to bless our endeavors outside the sacred space.

How to Read

Recite this once as you take your first steps out of the masjid. It's customary to exit with your left foot first, mirroring the entry with the right. The supplication is short but profound, asking Allah to grant us provision and good fortune from His infinite grace.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua is a humble acknowledgment of our dependence on Allah for sustenance and success. By asking for His bounty as we leave the house of Allah, we are essentially seeking His blessing to guide our actions in the outside world, protect us from ill fortune, and lead us to righteous opportunities. It reminds us that every good comes from Allah, even when we are no longer within the mosque's walls.

Source & Authentication

‘Amr ibn Shu’ayb narrated on his authority, from his father, on his authority from his grandfather, that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'When one of you enters the masjid, he should send blessings upon the Prophet (ﷺ) and say: O Allah, open for me the gates of Your mercy. And when he leaves, he should say: O Allah, I ask You from Your bounty.'
