بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ.
In the name of Allah. O Allah, I ask of Your bounty.
Bismillahi, Allahumma inni as'aluka min fadlik.
When to Read
This dua is recited upon leaving the Masjid, after completing your prayer. It's a beautiful way to transition from the sacred space of worship back into the world, asking Allah for His continuous blessings and provision as you step out.
How to Read
Recite this dua sincerely as you are exiting the Masjid. It's often associated with stepping out with your left foot first, though the primary focus is the intention and the words themselves. Speak it with a clear voice, reflecting on its meaning.
Virtues & Benefits
While this specific wording primarily asks for Allah's bounty and favors, the act of reciting duas upon leaving the Masjid is a Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. It signifies remembering Allah even as we depart from His house. By asking for Allah's bounty, we are essentially seeking His protection, guidance, and provision in our worldly affairs, which implicitly shields us from what could harm us, including oppressors or enemies, by keeping us under Allah's care.
Source & Authentication
Narrated by Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'When one of you goes to the Masjid, let him say: O Allah, forgive my sins and open to me the doors of Your mercy. And when he leaves, let him say: O Allah, forgive my sins and open to me the doors of Your bounty.' (Sahih Muslim 1388). This hadith is a beautiful illustration of seeking Allah's mercy upon entering and His bounty upon leaving, encompassing all aspects of our engagement with worship and life.
