بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ، وَلاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللَّهِ
In the name of Allah, I rely on Allah, and there is no might nor power except with Allah.
Bismillahi, tawakkaltu 'alallahi, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah
When to Read
This dua is recited upon exiting the Masjid after completing Salah or for any other reason. It's a beautiful way to transition from a state of worship and remembrance back into the affairs of daily life, carrying the barakah of the Masjid with you.
How to Read
Recite this sincerely as you step out of the Masjid. It's a declaration of dependence on Allah, acknowledging that all strength and power come from Him alone. Some narrations mention saying it three times, but the core dua itself is potent when said once with full conviction.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua is a powerful statement of reliance on Allah (Tawakkul). When recited, angels are appointed to guide and protect you, and you are shielded from falling into sin or going astray. It signifies that your journey home, like all your endeavors, is undertaken under Allah's watchful care and with His enabling power. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that when a person recites this upon leaving their home, it is said to them: "You are guided, defended, and your needs are met." This applies even more profoundly when leaving the House of Allah.
Source & Authentication
Narrated by Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "When a man goes out of his house and says: 'Bismillahi, tawakkaltu 'alallahi, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah' (In the name of Allah, I rely on Allah, and there is no might nor power except with Allah), it is said to him: 'You have been sufficed, defended, and guided.' And the devil keeps away from him."
