Dua for Leaving the Masjid: Seeking Allah's Help to Maintain Sincerity in Worship

Leaving Masjid
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 713

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ

O Allah, I ask You from Your bounty.

Allahumma inni as'aluka min fadlik

When to Read

This dua is recited upon leaving the Masjid (mosque) after completing prayer or other acts of worship. It's a moment to remember that all blessings and provisions come from Allah alone.

How to Read

Recite this supplication with sincerity, preferably with the left foot stepping out of the Masjid first. Understand that you are asking Allah to continue His blessings upon you even after you leave His house.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua acknowledges Allah's infinite grace and our dependence on Him for all good. It's a beautiful way to transition from the spiritual atmosphere of the mosque back into daily life, carrying the barakah (blessings) of the worship with you. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us this to remind us that even when we leave the place of worship, we are still in need of Allah's continuous favor and support in all our affairs.

Source & Authentication

Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'When any one of you performs his prayer in my mosque (Medina), he should not leave until he has prayed in the Madinah. He said: I think he said: Two Rak'ahs. And he should not leave except behind his two companions or his two friends. And when he goes out, he should say: "Allahumma inni as'aluka min fadlik."' (Sahih Muslim 713). While the context here specifically mentions leaving the Prophet's mosque in Medina and ideally with companions, the principle of seeking Allah's bounty upon leaving any place of worship is universally applicable and beneficial.
