اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ
O Allah, I ask You of Your bounty.
Allahumma inni as'aluka min fadlik
When to Read
This dua is recommended to be recited when leaving the masjid after prayer or any visit. It's a beautiful way to transition from the spiritual sanctuary of the mosque back into the worldly affairs, carrying the blessings of the masjid with you and asking Allah to make your path pleasing to Him.
How to Read
Recite this once after you have exited the Masjid, usually after completing your prayers or other intentions for visiting. Some scholars mention reciting the dua for entering the masjid (Allahumma aftahli abwaba rahmatik) as well. The general etiquette is to exit with your right foot first, just as you entered with your left.
Virtues & Benefits
This simple yet profound dua encapsulates a deep reliance on Allah. By asking for His bounty, we acknowledge that all good comes from Him. It's a recognition that even after fulfilling our obligations in the masjid, our success and ability to do good deeds in our daily lives depend entirely on Allah's continuous grace and guidance. It reminds us that our ultimate goal is to please Allah, and seeking His bounty is a means to that end, potentially guiding us to actions and paths that are beloved to Him.
Source & Authentication
It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "When any one of you recites Tashahhud, let him seek refuge in Allah from four things, and say: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka min 'adhabi jahannam wa min 'adhabi al-qabr wa min fitnatil-mahya wal-ma'mati wa min sharri fitnatil-masihid-dajjal.' (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the punishment of Hell, and from the punishment of the grave, and from the trials of life and death, and from the evil of the trial of the Masih ad-Dajjal.) Then he should say whatever he wishes." Sahih Muslim 1300
