Virtues & Benefits
While this specific dua is a general supplication for Allah's grace, its recitation upon leaving the Masjid carries immense potential. By asking for Allah's grace, we are essentially asking Him to open doors of goodness, provision, peace, and harmony in all aspects of our lives. When we focus this intention towards our family upon leaving the Masjid, we are seeking Allah's blessing to extend the peace and tranquility we felt inside the mosque to our homes. This includes fostering love, understanding, and mutual respect among family members, ensuring our homes become a reflection of the serenity found in the places of worship. Reciting this dua acknowledges that all blessings, especially those that lead to a harmonious family life, come solely from Allah's abundant grace.

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them): The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'When one of you finishes his prayer in his mosque, let him say: Allahumma inni as'aluka min fadlik. For indeed, it is not known to the people how He has distributed it (i.e. His Grace).' (Sahih Muslim 1376). The narration in Abu Dawud states that he steps out with his left foot: 'When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ left the mosque, he would step out with his left foot and recite: Allahumma inni as'aluka min fadlik.' (Sunan Abi Dawud 570).
