اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ
O Allah, I ask of Your bounty.
Allahumma inni as'aluka min fadlik
When to Read
This beautiful and concise dua is recited when leaving the masjid after a prayer or any visit. While the specific wording is for leaving the masjid, the sentiment of seeking Allah's bounty is universal. When we leave the House of Allah, we are stepping back into the world with a renewed sense of purpose. If our intention in attending the masjid was to learn or to seek knowledge, whether it be from a lesson, a discussion, or simply the atmosphere of remembrance, this dua perfectly encapsulates the desire to carry that pursuit of knowledge forward in our daily lives, seeking Allah's success in it.
How to Read
As you exit the masjid, turn your right foot out first, as you would when entering with your right foot. Recite this dua with sincerity, reflecting on the blessings you have received in the masjid and asking Allah to continue bestowing His favors upon you in your scholarly endeavors. It's a recognition that all success, especially in seeking knowledge, comes from Him.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua is a profound expression of reliance on Allah. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us this, showing that even after performing acts of worship, we are still in need of Allah's grace and provision. When leaving the masjid, we are leaving a place of spiritual nourishment. By asking Allah for His bounty, we are essentially asking Him to grant us success in our worldly and religious pursuits, including the critical endeavor of seeking knowledge. It instills humility and acknowledges that our efforts are only fruitful through His permission and help.

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: When you ask Allah for something, ask Him for Paradise and seek refuge in Him from the Fire. He said: And I think he said: And you should ask Him for the Two Companions (meaning his two companions in Paradise, Abu Bakr and 'Umar). And when you ask Allah for something, ask Him for the Two Companions. He said: When one of you leaves the masjid, say: O Allah, I ask of Your bounty. He said: And the evil of what He created. He said: And when you enter your home, greet your family with the greeting of the Muslims, i.e., As-salamu 'alaykum.
