Virtues & Benefits
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ promised a beautiful reward for those who recite this dua upon leaving their home: it is said that they will be told, 'You have been guided and are sufficient for you, and you have been protected.' This means Allah takes care of your needs, guides you to the right path, and protects you from harm. The phrase 'la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah' acknowledges that no change or strength can occur except by Allah's will, reinforcing our dependence on Him.
Source & Authentication
Anas narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said: "When a person leaves his house, he should say: 'Bismillahi, tawakkaltu 'alallah, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah.' (In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and there is no might nor power except with Allah). Then it will be said to him: 'You have been guided and are sufficient for you, and you have been protected.' So the devil will go far away from him." [Sunan Abi Dawud 5095]. This hadith is classified as Hasan by some scholars due to corroborating narrations.
