In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and there is no might nor power except with Allah.

When to Read
This powerful dua is recited when a person intends to leave their home, whether for a brief journey or a significant life change like moving to a new city for studies, work, or starting a new phase of life. Recite it just as you are stepping out of your door.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and full reliance on Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). Understand that 'Bismillah' means acknowledging Allah's name as you begin, 'Tawakkaltu 'alallah' signifies your complete trust in Him to manage your affairs, and 'Wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah' affirms that true strength and ability come only from Him. Make a conscious effort to feel these meanings as you step out.
Virtues & Benefits
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said that when a person says this dua upon leaving their home, it is said to them: 'You are guided, defended, and freed from hurt.' Another version states: 'It is said to you: It is enough for you, you are protected, and you are guided.' This means that angels are assigned to protect you, and you will be safe from any harm or distress that might befall you on your journey or in your new endeavor.

Narrated Anas: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "When a man goes out of his house saying: 'Bismillah, tawakkaltu 'alallah, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah,' it is said to him: 'It is enough for you; you are protected and guided.' So the devil is cast away from him and he is protected." [Sunan Abi Dawud 5095]. Another narration from Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) states: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "When a person leaves his house and says: 'Bismillah, tawakkaltu 'alallah, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah,' then an angel says: 'You have been guided, defended, and freed from all harm.' Then a devil says to him: 'How can you be protected when I am free to approach you?'" [Sunan At-Tirmidhi 3426 - Hasan Gharib].
