Virtues & Benefits
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that when a person says this dua upon leaving their home, they are told: 'You are guided, you are defended, and you are protected.' The devil turns away from them, and another devil says: 'How can you deal with a person who has been guided, defended, and protected?' This protection extends to all aspects of the journey, including the search for a cure, reminding us that Allah is our ultimate safeguard.
Source & Authentication
Narrated Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, 'When a person leaves his house and says: Bismillahi, tawakkaltu 'alallahi, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah. (In the name of Allah, I rely upon Allah, and there is no might nor power except with Allah.) it is said to him: "You are guided, you are defended, and you are protected." So the devil turns away from him, and another devil says to him: "How can you deal with a person who has been guided, defended, and protected?"' — Sunan Abi Dawud 5095. It is also narrated with similar wording in Jami' al-Tirmidhi 3426, graded as Hasan Sahih.
