بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ، وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ
In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and there is no might nor power except with Allah.
Bismillah, tawakkaltu 'alallah, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah
When to Read
This is the Sunnah dua to recite when leaving one's home for any purpose, including a journey specifically undertaken to mend relationships with estranged family members. Reciting it upon stepping out of your door signifies your reliance on Allah for protection and guidance throughout your travel and your mission.
How to Read
Stand at your doorway, take a moment to make your intention clear – to seek Allah's help in reconnecting with your family. Then, recite the dua with sincerity, affirming your trust in Allah alone. It's recommended to recite it once before departing.
Virtues & Benefits
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ promised that when a person recites this dua upon leaving their home, they are told: 'You have been guided, you have been sufficed, and you have been protected.' Satan will then move away from them. This dua invokes Allah's protection, guidance, and provision, which are essential when embarking on a sensitive journey like reconciling with family.
Source & Authentication
Narrated Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, 'When a person leaves his house, he says: Bismillah, tawakkaltu 'alallah, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah. (In the name of Allah, I trust in Allah, and there is no power or strength except with Allah). Then it will be said to him: 'You have been guided, you have been sufficed, and you have been protected.' And the devil will stay away from him, and the devil will say to another devil: 'How can you get to a man who has been guided, sufficed and protected?'
