Source & Authentication
Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-'As (may Allah be pleased with them both): Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "If one of you sets out on a journey and says: ‘Bismillahi, tawakkaltu 'alallahi, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billahi’ (In the name of Allah, I rely on Allah. There is no might nor power except with Allah), it will be said to him: 'You have been sufficed, defended, and guided.' And Satan will move away from him. Another Satan will say: 'How can you deal with a man who has been sufficed, defended, and guided?'" (Sunan Abi Dawud 4264). Another narration adds: "Allahumma inni a'udhu bika an adilla aw udalla, aw azilla aw uzalla, aw azlima aw uzlama, aw ajhala aw yujhala 'alay" (O Allah, I seek refuge in You lest I stray or be led astray, lest I slip or be tripped, lest I wrong or be wronged, lest I act foolishly or be acted upon foolishly.) (Sunan An-Nasa'i in Al-Kubra 10146)
