Dua for the Blessings of the Prophet's Hijrah in Madinah

Hajj & Umrah
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 1375

O Allah, bless us in our Madinah, and bless us in our measure (Sa' and Mudd), and bless us in our Makkah. O Allah, indeed Ibrahim is Your servant, Your close friend, and Your Prophet. He supplicated to You for Makkah, and I am Your servant and Your Messenger. I supplicate to You for Madinah, just as Ibrahim supplicated to You for Makkah. O Allah, bless us in our Madinah, and bless us in our measure (Sa' and Mudd), and our health, and bless us in our fruit, and make with that two houses (meaning the Ka'bah and the Prophet's mosque).

When to Read

This dua is particularly relevant when visiting Madinah, especially during Hajj or Umrah. It can be recited at any time, but its significance is amplified when you are physically present in the blessed city, reflecting on the Prophet's ﷺ journey and the city's establishment. Reciting it after Fajr or Isha prayer, or when visiting Rawdah, can enhance the spiritual connection.

How to Read

Recite with sincerity and heartfelt intention, focusing on the blessings of Madinah and the Prophet's ﷺ life there. It is recommended to face the Qiblah, if possible, and to raise your hands in supplication, as was the practice of the Prophet ﷺ when making dua. Imagine the sacrifices made during the Hijrah and the immense blessings that flowed from it.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encapsulates the Prophet's ﷺ profound connection to Madinah and his supplication for its prosperity and the well-being of its people. By reciting it, we connect with that supplication, seeking Allah's barakah (blessings) for ourselves and for the city that became the center of Islam. It reminds us of the spiritual significance of Madinah, the City of the Prophet ﷺ, and the historical importance of the Hijrah.
