Gratitude
Hasan HadithJami' at-Tirmidhi 3231

O Allah, I ask You for Your love, and the love of those who love You, and for the deeds which will help me reach Your love. O Allah, make Your love more beloved to me than myself, my family, and than cold water.

Allahumma inni as'aluka hubbaka wa hubba man yuhibbuka wal-'amalalladhi yuballighuni hubbak. Allahummaj'al hubbaka ahabba ilayya min nafsi wa ahli wa minal-ma'il-barid.

When to Read

This beautiful dua is perfect for reciting at any time, especially after Fajr prayer or during the evening. It's particularly fitting when you feel a deep sense of connection and love for your fellow Muslims, or when you are reflecting on the blessings Allah has bestowed upon you, including the brotherhood and sisterhood within the Ummah.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and a heartfelt intention. Imagine Allah listening to your plea. Feel the weight of your own love for Him and for His creation. The Prophet ﷺ taught us to ask Allah directly for what we need, so approach Him with humility and certainty in His response.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encapsulates a profound desire: to love Allah above all else. When we achieve this, our love for His creation, especially our believing brothers and sisters, naturally follows. Loving fellow Muslims is a sign of strong faith, as the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: > **Arabic:** لاَ يُؤْمِنُ أَحَدُكُمْ حَتَّى يُحِبَّ لأَخِيهِ مَا يُحِبُّ لِنَفْسِهِ ‏.‏ > **Translation:** "None of you truly believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself." (Sahih al-Bukhari 13) By asking for Allah's love and the love of those who love Him, we are seeking the highest form of affection, which is rooted in obedience to Allah. This dua helps purify our intentions and strengthen our bonds with the Ummah, leading to greater peace and harmony.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Abdullah ibn Huthayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'Whoever asks Allah for martyrdom in the cause of Allah with sincerity, Allah will grant him the reward of a martyr, even if he dies on his bed.' (Sunan At-Tirmidhi 1648). The narrator said: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka hubbaka wa hubba man yuhibbuka wal-'amalalladhi yuballighuni hubbak. Allahummaj'al hubbaka ahabba ilayya min nafsi wa ahli wa minal-ma'il-barid.' (O Allah, I ask You for Your love, and the love of those who love You, and for the deeds which will help me reach Your love. O Allah, make Your love more beloved to me than myself, my family, and than cold water.)
