All praise is due to Allah, who saved me from what He has tested you with, and preferred me greatly over many of His creations.
Alhamdulillah alladhi 'afani mimma ibtalaka bihi, wa faddalani 'ala kathirim mimman khalaqa tafdila.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: 'Whoever sees a person afflicted with a trial and says: *Alhamdulillah alladhi 'afani mimma ibtalaka bihi, wa faddalani 'ala kathirim mimman khalaqa tafdila* (All praise is due to Allah, who saved me from what He has tested you with, and preferred me greatly over many of His creations) – he will be kept safe from that affliction, whatever it may be.' (Sunan al-Tirmidhi 3432). The hadith does not specify that this should be said aloud.
