Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari 3739

جَزَى اللَّهُ عَنَّا مُحَمَّدًا بِمَا هُوَ أَهْلُهُ

May Allah reward us on behalf of Muhammad ﷺ with what he deserves.

JazAllahu 'anna Muhammadan bima huwa ahluh

When to Read

This beautiful supplication is made after the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ asked if anyone had wealth or offered charity. When no one responded, he then asked if anyone had offered companionship, offered kinship, or visited the sick. The companions said that they would do so. This dua can be recited when reflecting on the blessings of good company and kinship, or when you want to express gratitude for the support and presence of your loved ones. It’s a way to acknowledge the profound impact they have, and to ask Allah to reward them abundantly.

How to Read

Recite this heartfelt dua with sincerity, reflecting on the specific people Allah has placed in your life who bring you joy, support, and help you grow closer to Him. Think about the meaning of 'rewarding them with what they deserve' – it's a recognition of their immense value. This is not just a rote recitation; it's a moment of deep appreciation for the bonds we share.

Virtues & Benefits

Expressing gratitude for companionship is a Sunnah. This dua, as taught by the Prophet ﷺ, acknowledges the invaluable role good friends and family play in our lives. It's a way to seek Allah's reward for those who have been a source of good for us, recognizing their efforts and their presence as a blessing from Allah. The Prophet ﷺ himself said: "A person is upon the religion of his friend, so let one of you look whom he befriends." (Sunan Abi Dawud 4833, Sahih). This highlights how companions influence us, making gratitude for righteous company even more significant.
