اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and acceptable deeds.
Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan
When to Read
This dua is particularly potent when recited after Fajr (dawn) prayer, as it’s a time when the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ supplicated for blessings. It's also excellent to recite at the beginning of any endeavor involving learning, studying, or seeking to understand Islamic knowledge. Making it a habit each morning ensures you start your day with a focus on seeking knowledge that is both beneficial in this life and the hereafter.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and a focused heart, understanding the profound meaning behind each request. Raise your hands in supplication as you would during other duas. Visualize the benefits of knowledge flowing into your mind and spirit. Reflect on Allah's blessings as you speak, acknowledging that all knowledge and ability comes from Him alone. Speak clearly and with conviction.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua encompasses three essential pillars for a righteous life: beneficial knowledge ('ilman nafi'an) that guides us, goodly provision (rizqan tayyiban) that sustains us ethically, and acceptable deeds ('amalan mutaqabbalan) that are pleasing to Allah. By asking for beneficial knowledge, we seek understanding that not only elevates our own status but also allows us to serve others and the Deen effectively. This knowledge is a trust from Allah, and this dua is a way of expressing gratitude for it and asking for its proper application.
