Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Once it rained on us with the Prophet (ﷺ) and he unveiled his garment until the rain fell on it. We asked him, 'O Allah's Messenger! Why do you do this?' He replied, 'Because it has just come from its Lord (in another narration: Allah, the Almighty, said it is the fresh creation of Allah).'" (Sahih al-Bukhari 1029). Another narration includes the dua: "Allahumma sayyiban naafi'an" (O Allah, send down beneficial rain).
