Narrated Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "No one of you should say: 'O Allah, forgive me if You wish; O Allah, have mercy on me if You wish.' He should be firm in his request, for Allah does what He wills to do. None can compel Allah to do (a thing) against His will. O Allah, forgive me and have mercy on me and guide me and provide for me." And another version says: "When Allah is pleased with a slave, He says, 'I am pleased with him.' And when He decrees a thing, it happens. And 'Alhamdulillahilladhi bi ni'matihi tatimmus-salihat' (All praise is due to Allah, by Whose favor good deeds are completed) is said when something good happens."
