Dua for Gratitude: The Blessing of Shelter

Gratitude
Hasan HadithSunan Ibn Majah 3797

All praise is due to Allah, Who has made the earth a dwelling place for us, and the water pure, and Islam a light, and has made for us a home for dwelling, and has made wealth a means of sustenance, and has endeared homes to us and adorned them in our hearts, and has made for us therein whatever we need of goodness.

Alhamdulillah alladhi ja'ala lana al-arda qararan, wal-ma'a tahuran, wal-Islama nuran, wajal baitan sakanan, wajal al-mala qiwaman, wa hababa ilayna al-buyuta wa zayyanaha fi qulubina, wajal lana fiha ma nahtajuhu min al-khayr.

It was narrated from Al-Bara' bin 'Azib that when the Prophet (ﷺ) entered his house, he would say: 'O Allah, I ask You for the goodness of entering and the goodness of exiting. In the name of Allah, we enter, and in the name of Allah, we leave, and in Allah, our Lord, we place our trust.' And when he entered his house, he would say: 'All praise is due to Allah, Who has made the earth a dwelling place for us, and the water pure, and Islam a light, and has made for us a home for dwelling, and has made wealth a means of sustenance, and has made for us therein whatever we need of goodness.'
