Dua for Gratitude: Cherishing the Blessing of Family Unity

Gratitude
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 2724

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the cessation of Your blessings, the reversal of Your protection, the suddenness of Your punishment, and all that You are displeased with. O Allah, I ask You for a sound heart and a truthful tongue, and I ask You for the good You know, and I seek refuge in You from the evil I know, and I seek Your forgiveness for what I know and what I do not know.

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min zawali ni'matik, wa tahawwuli 'afiyatik, wa fuja'ati niqmatik, wa jami'i sakhatik. Allahumma inni as'aluka qalban saliman, wa lisanan sadiqan, wa as'aluka min khayri ma ta'lam, wa a'udhu bika min sharri ma a'lam, wa astaghfiruka lima a'lamu wa ma la a'lam.

Source & Authentication

When the Prophet (ﷺ) would say his prayers, he would say: O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave, and the punishment of Hellfire, and I seek refuge in You from the trial of the Antichrist, and I seek refuge in You from the trial of life and death. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from falsehood and debt. A man said: "O Messenger of Allah, how frequent you seek refuge from debt! He said: 'When a man is in debt, he speaks, and lies, and he promises, and he breaks it.'" And (he would say): "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from evil hearing, and I seek refuge in You from evil sight, and I seek refuge in You from evil speech, and I seek refuge in You from evil thoughts. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the cessation of Your blessings, and the reversal of Your protection, and the suddenness of Your punishment, and all that You are displeased with. O Allah, I ask You for a sound heart and a truthful tongue, and I ask You for the good You know, and I seek refuge in You from the evil I know, and I seek Your forgiveness for what I know and what I do not know. The narrator added: And I seek Your forgiveness for what I know and what I do not know. And he would say: 'O Allah, bestow upon me my sustenance in my trade and my writings, and the best of my wealth which is that which I have acquired, and the good of my wealth which remains, and the contentment that is not followed by want, and the satisfaction that is not followed by dissatisfaction, and I ask You for the best of what You will give in the hereafter and the world, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of what You will give in the hereafter and the world.' And he would say: 'O Allah, grant me the ability to love You, and to love those who love You, and to love the deeds which will bring me nearer to You. And make the love of You dearer to me than myself, and my family, and wealth. And make coolness for my eyes in prayer, and grant me the ability to fast during the day, and to have the intention of fasting during the night.' And he would say: 'O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hunger, for it is a bad companion, and I seek refuge in You from the betrayal, for it is a bad secret.' And he would say: 'O Allah, let me be content with what You have provided for me, and grant me Your blessing in it, and let me have good successors after me, for verily You are the Protector, and Your forgiveness is what I seek.'
