اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ
O Allah, help me to remember You, to give thanks to You, and to worship You in the best manner.
Allahumma a'inni 'ala dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni 'ibadatik
When to Read
This is a beautiful, comprehensive dua that can be recited at any time. It's particularly potent after prayers, when reflecting on Allah's blessings, or when feeling distant from remembrance and gratitude. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this to his companion Mu'adh ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) to recite after every prayer, making it an excellent habit to adopt as part of your daily devotional practice.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincere intention and a humble heart. Focus on the meaning of each word: seeking Allah's assistance in remembering Him (dhikr), expressing gratitude for His favors (shukr), and improving the quality of your worship (husni 'ibadah). Imagine yourself actively engaging in these three pillars of faith as you make the supplication. It's often recited with the hands raised, as is customary when making dua.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua encapsulates a profound request for spiritual well-being. By asking for help in remembering Allah, we acknowledge that our hearts can become heedless and seek Allah's constant presence in our thoughts. Requesting help in giving thanks recognizes that gratitude is an act of worship that requires Allah's enablement, and it leads to increased blessings (Surah Ibrahim 14:7). Asking for help in worshipping Him in the best manner signifies a desire to purify our intentions and actions, striving for excellence in our devotion. This holistic request aims to strengthen our connection with Allah in every aspect of our lives.
