O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the cessation of Your blessings, the reversal of Your good health, the suddenness of Your punishment, and all of Your displeasure. And I seek refuge in You from the hardships of tribulation, the attainment of wretchedness, the evil of fate, and the rejoicing of enemies. Our Lord, grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.
Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min zawali ni'matik, wa tahawwuli 'afiyatik, wa fuji'ati niqmatik, wa jami'i sakhatik. Wa a'udhu bika min jahdil-bala', wa darakish-shaqa', wa su'il-qada', wa shamatatil-a'da'. Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanah, wa fil-akhirati hasanah, wa qina 'adhaban-nar.

Virtues & Benefits
This dua, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, offers immense protection from various forms of hardship and displeasure. By seeking refuge in Allah from the reversal of blessings and the attainment of wretchedness, we are also asking for the preservation of positive states, including harmonious relationships with neighbors. Good neighborliness is a vital aspect of Islamic character, and seeking Allah's help in maintaining it is crucial. The latter part of the dua, the famous supplication from the Quran, asks for the best of both worlds, which naturally includes a peaceful and supportive environment, facilitated by good relations with those living near us. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'The best of companions with Allah is the best of them to his companion. And the best of neighbors to Allah is the best of them to his neighbor.' (Tirmidhi, Sahih). This highlights the immense reward for good neighborliness, making this general dua for protection and well-being a means to that end.
