Good Character
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 2665

يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِكَ

O Turner of the hearts, keep my heart firm on Your religion.

Ya muqallib al-qulubi, thabbit qalbi 'ala deenik

When to Read

This is a foundational dua that can be recited at any time. It's particularly beneficial to make it a habit after your obligatory prayers (Salat), during the quiet moments of the night, or whenever you feel a need for spiritual steadfastness and a reminder of your purpose. Reciting it regularly helps in seeking Allah's constant guidance and protection for your heart.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and a genuine desire for Allah's help. Understand that the heart is a delicate thing, easily swayed. Place your hand on your chest while reciting, feeling the beat of your heart, and truly implore the One who controls it to keep it steadfast on the path of righteousness and goodness. It is a plea born of humility and recognition of our dependence on Allah.

Virtues & Benefits

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us this dua because the heart is the central organ of our faith and actions. If the heart is sound and inclined towards goodness, our deeds will follow suit. This dua seeks Allah's help in maintaining that internal compass, ensuring our actions are pleasing to Him. It's a powerful tool for spiritual stability, preventing deviation and strengthening our connection to our faith, especially during times of trial or temptation.

Source & Authentication

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to supplicate: 'O Controller of the hearts, make my heart firm on Your religion.' And Umm Salamah asked him, 'O Messenger of Allah, why do most of the supplications of the believers at Mecca is this: "O Controller of the hearts, make my heart incline towards Your obedience"?' He replied: 'O Umm Salamah, verily, there is no human being but his heart is between two fingers out of the fingers of the Most Merciful. The Deen (religion) is One, so if the heart of the son of Adam is righteous, he comes to the established way (i.e., adheres to the Deen). And if he goes astray, he goes astray from the established way.' - Sahih Muslim 2665
