There is no god but Allah, alone, without any partner. To Him belongs all sovereignty and to Him belongs all praise, and He is Omnipotent over all things.
La ilaha illallah wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu, wa Huwa 'ala kulli shay'in Qadir.
When to Read
The day of Arafah (9th of Dhu al-Hijjah) is a supremely blessed day. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ described it as the best day for supplication. Therefore, this dua, and all forms of sincere supplication (dua) and remembrance (dhikr), should be recited frequently throughout this day. It's especially potent when you are in the plains of Arafah, but its merit extends to all who observe the day, wherever they may be.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and a present heart. Understand its profound meaning: affirming the Oneness of Allah, acknowledging His absolute dominion and praise, and recognizing His power over all creation. Repeat it often, seeking Allah's forgiveness and mercy. The Prophet ﷺ mentioned that whoever says this dua in the morning and evening, Allah will grant them freedom from the Fire. While this specific promise is tied to morning and evening recitations, its power on Arafah is magnified.
Virtues & Benefits
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ stated: 'The best supplication is the supplication on the Day of Arafah, and the best of what I and the prophets before me have said is: "La ilaha illallah wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu, wa Huwa 'ala kulli shay'in Qadir." (Sunan al-Tirmidhi 3513). This hadith highlights its immense virtue. It is also narrated that whoever recites this dua in the morning and evening, Allah will grant them freedom from the Fire. (Sunan al-Tirmidhi 3367, Hasan). On the Day of Arafah, Allah forgives the sins of those who repent, and this dua is a powerful means to seek that forgiveness.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The best supplication is the supplication on the Day of Arafah, and the best of what I and the prophets before me have said is: "La ilaha illallah wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu, wa Huwa 'ala kulli shay'in Qadir."' (Sunan al-Tirmidhi 3513). Another narration states: 'Whoever says: "La ilaha illallah wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu, wa Huwa 'ala kulli shay'in Qadir" (There is no god but Allah, alone, without any partner. To Him belongs all sovereignty and to Him belongs all praise, and He is Omnipotent over all things) in the morning and evening, it will be equivalent to him freeing eight slaves, and sixty (good deeds) will be recorded for him, and sixty (sins) will be erased from him, and ten (ranks) will be raised for him, and it will be a protection for him from the Shaitan on that day, and he will not have any deed better than that, except for a man who does more than that.' (Sunan al-Tirmidhi 3367, graded Hasan by some scholars).
