O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in this world and the next. O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in my religious and worldly affairs and my family and my property. O Allah, conceal my weaknesses and calm my fears. O Allah, protect me from my front and from behind me, from my right and from my left, and from above me, and I seek refuge in Your might from being smitten from beneath me.
Allahumma inni as'alukal-'afwa wal-'afiyata fi dunyaya wa akhirati. Allahumma inni as'alukal-'afwa wal-'afiyata fi dini wa dunyaya wa ahli wa mali. Allahumma-stur 'awrati wa amin raw'ati. Allahumma-hfazni min bayni yadayya wa min khalfi wa 'an yomini wa 'an shimali wa min fawqi, wa a'udhu bi'azamatika an ughtala min tahti.
When to Read
This is a comprehensive supplication that can be made at any time. It's particularly beneficial to recite it in the morning and evening, as this is a general Sunnah practice for seeking Allah's protection throughout the day and night. It's also fitting to make this dua after completing acts of worship, like prayer, to seek forgiveness for any shortcomings and protection from subsequent missteps.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, reflecting on its profound meaning. Raise your hands in supplication as you would when asking Allah for something. Ensure you are in a state of purity if possible, though the supplication itself is valid even if not. Speak clearly, articulating each word, and focus your heart on Allah, knowing that He hears all and is capable of granting all.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua encompasses seeking forgiveness ('afw) and well-being ('afiyah) in all aspects of life – religious, worldly, family, and property. 'Afiyah is a broad term that includes protection from all forms of harm, both physical and spiritual. By asking to be protected from all directions and from being smitten from beneath, the Prophet ﷺ taught us to seek comprehensive divine safeguarding. This supplication, therefore, not only seeks pardon for past sins but also protection from falling into future transgressions, making it a powerful tool for spiritual growth and steadfastness.
