O Allah, forgive me my sin, all of it, the minor and the major, the first and the last, the apparent and the hidden.
Allahummaghfirli dhambi kullahu, diqqahu wa jillahu, awwalahu wa akhirahu, 'alaniyatahu wa sirrahu
When to Read
This powerful dua is particularly relevant as Ramadan draws to a close. While Ramadan is a season of intense spiritual focus and a prime opportunity for seeking Allah's forgiveness, it's possible that even in our striving, we may have inadvertently committed sins or fallen short. Reciting this dua at the end of Ramadan, perhaps on Laylat al-Qadr or during the last few days, is an excellent way to make a comprehensive plea for the wiping away of all our transgressions before the month concludes.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincere intention and a heartfelt plea to Allah. It is best recited with a raised voice in supplication, embodying humility and hope. Ensure you are in a state of purity (Wudu) if possible. Reflect on each part of the dua: asking for forgiveness for both the small and great sins, those committed from the beginning of your life until now, and those done openly and secretly. This comprehensive nature of the dua is a sign of acknowledging the vastness of Allah's mercy and the multitude of our own failings.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua encapsulates a complete seeking of forgiveness, covering all types of sins. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us this comprehensive prayer, showing the importance of leaving no category of sin unaddressed in our supplications. By asking for the forgiveness of 'all of it, the minor and the major, the first and the last, the apparent and the hidden,' we are not leaving any room for doubt in our plea. Allah's mercy is vast, and Ramadan is a month where the doors of His forgiveness are flung wide open. Seeking forgiveness during this blessed month, especially with such a comprehensive dua, is a direct way to benefit from its spiritual blessings and potentially have our sins erased.
