โœฆ

Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers.

Rabbana zalamna anfusana wa in lam taghfir lana wa tarhamna lanakoonanna minal-khasireen

When to Read

This is a foundational dua for acknowledging our mistakes and seeking Allah's forgiveness. It's incredibly powerful to recite when you realize you've erred, whether in a small way or a significant one. Think of it as a constant companion for moments of self-reflection and regret, reminding us that turning back to Allah is always the first step towards rectification.

How to Read

Recite this verse with sincerity and a heavy heart, truly feeling the weight of your actions and your absolute need for Allah's mercy. Understand that Adam ('alayhis salam) and Hawa (may Allah be pleased with them) uttered this after their mistake in the Garden. It's a profound expression of submission and dependence on the Most Merciful. Make it a habit to whisper it during the quiet moments of your day, or when you feel the sting of a misstep.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua embodies true repentance (tawbah). It shows humility, acknowledges our shortcomings without excuse, and places our hope solely in Allah's forgiveness and mercy. By turning to Allah with this plea, we align ourselves with the path of the prophets and righteous individuals, seeking not just pardon but also the strength to avoid future errors. Itโ€™s a reminder that even after mistakes, the door of repentance is open, and Allah's mercy encompasses all things.
