It's particularly relevant after engaging in activities like online backbiting, spreading misinformation, viewing impermissible content, or engaging in arguments online. Recite it after any such realization to seek immediate forgiveness.

How to Read

Recite this dua with a sincere heart, acknowledging your shortcomings. Visualize yourself turning back to Allah, abandoning the sinful behavior, and resolving not to repeat it. It’s best to say this in a state of purity if possible, though sincerity is the primary requirement. Make a firm intention to change your online habits for the sake of Allah.

Virtues & Benefits

Seeking sincere repentance (tawbah nasuha) is the foundation of seeking forgiveness. The Quran emphasizes the importance of repentance: 'O you who have believed, repent to Allah with sincere repentance. Perhaps your Lord will remove from you your misdeeds and admit you to gardens beneath which rivers flow...' (At-Tahrim 66:8). Prophet Muhammad ﷺ also said: 'The one who repents from a sin is like one who has not committed sin.' (Sunan Ibn Majah 4245, graded Hasan). Repentance cleanses the heart, draws Allah's mercy, and leads to closeness with the Creator.
