Dua for Protection from Evils, Including Our Own Sins

Forgiveness
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 2708

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the cessation of Your blessings, the change of Your protection, the suddenness of Your vengeance, and all Your displeasure. And I seek refuge in You from the trials of this world and the Hereafter.

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min zawali ni'matik, wa tahawwuli 'afiyatik, wa faj'ati niqmatik, wa jami'i sakhadik, wa a'udhu bika min fitanid-dunya wal-akhirah.

Source & Authentication

‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ never let go of these supplications: اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ زَوَالِ نِعْمَتِكَ، وَتَحَوُّلِ عَافِيَتِكَ، وَفَجْأَةِ نِقْمَتِكَ، وَجَمِيعِ سَخَطِكَ "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the cessation of Your blessings, the change of Your protection, the suddenness of Your vengeance, and all Your displeasure." And he would say: اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ هَمٍّ وَحَزَنٍ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَجْزٍ وَكَسَلٍ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ جُبْنٍ وَبُخْلٍ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ غَلَبَةِ الدَّيْنِ وَقَهْرِ الرِّجَالِ "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and grief, I seek refuge in You from incapacity and laziness, I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess, and I seek refuge in You from being overcome by debt and by the force of men." He would also say: اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ النَّارِ وَعَذَابِ النَّارِ، وَفِتْنَةِ الْقَبْرِ وَعَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ، وَمِنْ شَرِّ فِتْنَةِ الْغِنَى، وَمِنْ شَرِّ فِتْنَةِ الْفَقْرِ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ فِتْنَةِ الْمَسِيحِ الدَّجَّالِ، اللَّهُمَّ اغْسِلْ قَلْبِي بِمَاءِ الثَّلْجِ وَالْبَرَدِ، وَنَقِّ قَلْبِي مِنَ الْخَطَايَا كَمَا نَقَّيْتَ الثَّوْبَ الأَبْيَضَ مِنَ الدَّنَسِ، وَبَاعِدْ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ خَطَايَاىَ كَمَا بَاعَدْتَ بَيْنَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ، اللَّهُمَّ فَأَعِنِّي عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the trial of the Fire and its punishment, from the trial of the grave and its punishment, and from the evil of the trial of wealth, and from the evil of the trial of poverty, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of the trial of the Antichrist. O Allah, wash my heart with the water of snow and hail, and cleanse my heart from sins as a white garment is cleansed from dirt, and set me at a great distance from my sins, as You set the East at a distance from the West. O Allah, help me against remembering You, and thanking You, and worshipping You in the best manner."
