O Allah, I ask You for a heart pure from the hypocrisy of this world, a love for the Hereafter, a desire for reward, and a fear of punishment. And that You make sins heralds of repentance, mistakes keys to seizing opportunity, and evil deeds erasers of transgressions. And that You purify my heart from everything that distances me from You.
Allahumma inni as'aluka qalban naqiyan min riya' ad-dunya, wa hubban lil-akhirah, wa raghbatan fit-thawab, wa khawfan 'anil-'iqab, wa an taj'ala adh-dhunuba qawadima lit-tawbah, wal-akhta'a mafatiha laghtinam, was-sayyi'ati mahwan lil-khataya, wa an tutahhira qalbi min kulli shay'in yub'iduni 'ank.

Recite it during the times when supplications are more likely to be answered: after prayers, during the last third of the night, between the Adhan and Iqamah, or on Fridays. It's a crucial du'a to make when you notice the effects of your sins making your heart feel heavy or unresponsive.
How to Read
Recite this du'a with sincerity and conviction, understanding the deep need for Allah's mercy. Be present in your heart as you speak the words. Reflect on each phrase, acknowledging your shortcomings and your earnest desire for Allah's guidance and purification. It is best to raise your hands slightly in supplication, as is the Sunnah for du'a, and to face the Qiblah if possible. Begin with praising Allah and sending blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad ๏ทบ.
