اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِي صَغِيرًا
O Allah, forgive me and my parents, and have mercy on them as they brought me up when I was young.
Allahumma-ghfirli wa li walidayya wa-rhamhuma kama rabbayani saghira
When to Read
This precious time between the Adhan (call to prayer) and the Iqamah (call to establish the prayer) is a period of immense spiritual opportunity. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that the dua made during this interval is never rejected. It's a moment to turn to Allah with sincerity, seeking His mercy and forgiveness, especially for ourselves and our parents.
How to Read
Raise your hands slightly, as you would when making other duas. Face the Qiblah if possible, and recite this supplication with a humble heart and a sincere intention. Focus on the meaning of the words and the immense mercy of Allah. It's beautiful to remember your parents, living or deceased, as you make this plea.
Virtues & Benefits
The primary benefit is the high likelihood of this dua being accepted. The Prophet ﷺ said: 'The supplication made between the Adhan and the Iqamah is not rejected.' (Sunan Abi Dawud 515). This specific dua also carries the reward of seeking forgiveness and mercy for one's parents, a beautiful act of kindness and remembrance that benefits both the reciter and their parents.

Narrated Anas: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'The supplication made between the Adhan and the Iqamah is not rejected.' So they said: 'O Messenger of Allah! What should we say?' He said: 'Ask Allah for health (Afiyah) in this world and the Hereafter.' Another narration states: ‘O Allah, forgive me and my parents, and have mercy on them as they brought me up when I was young.’
