โœฆ

My Lord, forgive me and my parents and whoever enters my home as a believer and the believing men and believing women.

Rabbighfir li walidayya wa liman dakhala baytiya mu'minan wa lilmu'minina walmu'minat

When to Read

This is a comprehensive dua that can be recited at any time, especially after salah (obligatory prayers) or during times of seeking forgiveness. It's particularly fitting when reflecting on our relationship with our parents and any shortcomings we may have had, including moments of disobedience or unkindness.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and a humble heart. Visualize your parents, living or deceased, and extend your plea for their forgiveness along with your own. It's best to raise your hands in supplication, as is the practice when making dua, and to face the Qiblah if possible. Ensure you are in a state of purity (Wudu).

Virtues & Benefits

This ayah, taught by Prophet Nuh (Noah) (peace be upon him) himself, highlights the immense importance of seeking forgiveness not only for ourselves but also for our parents and the wider believing community. It underscores the interconnectedness of our actions and their impact, and the mercy of Allah SWT who encompasses all believers. By including our parents in our supplications, we fulfill a key aspect of honoring them, even after they may have passed on. This dua acknowledges our human fallibility and reliance on Allah's boundless mercy for cleansing ourselves and those we care about from sin.
