اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا.
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, pure sustenance, and accepted deeds.
Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.
When to Read
This dua is particularly beneficial after the Fajr prayer, as the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to seek Allah's help for the day ahead. It can also be recited at any time you feel your sustenance is being restricted or when seeking purity in your provisions, recognizing that sins can indeed block blessings.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, raising your hands slightly as you do so, a practice of the Prophet ﷺ when making supplication. Focus on the meaning of each part of the dua: seeking knowledge that benefits, provision that is lawful and good, and deeds that are accepted by Allah. Understanding that sins can hinder blessings, this dua is an acknowledgment of our need for Allah's grace in both spiritual and worldly matters.
Virtues & Benefits
This powerful dua encompasses seeking three essential aspects of a believer's life: beneficial knowledge that guides them, pure sustenance that nourishes them lawfully and healthily, and accepted deeds that draw them closer to Allah. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would recite this upon waking, showing its importance for starting the day with a focus on what truly matters. By seeking these things, a Muslim implicitly seeks to remove any obstacles, including the effects of sins, that might hinder their provisions, whether that be wealth, health, or peace of mind. Allah states, "And whoever fears Allah – He will make for him a way out. And He will provide for him from sources he never imagined." (Surah At-Talaq 65:2-3), highlighting how obedience and seeking His help can open doors to sustenance.
