اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلاً مُتَقَبَّلاً
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and acceptable deeds.
Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan
When to Read
This is a profound supplication the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would recite after the dawn prayer (Fajr). It's a powerful way to start the day, seeking blessings in knowledge, livelihood, and actions, which indirectly leads to seeking Allah's forgiveness for any shortcomings or missteps that might occur throughout the day or life.
How to Read
Recite this dua sincerely after completing the Fajr prayer. Raise your hands as you would during a regular dua. Focus on the meaning and the deep need for Allah's help in attaining these essential aspects of life, and by extension, His mercy for any transgressions.
Virtues & Benefits
This specific supplication isn't a direct 'dua for forgiveness of all sins' in one go. However, seeking beneficial knowledge (ʿilm nafiʿ) allows us to understand Allah's commands and prohibitions better, helping us avoid sins. Goodly provision (rizqan tayyiban) ensures our sustenance is pure, and acceptable deeds (ʿamalan mutaqabbalan) are the very means by which we earn Allah's pleasure and forgiveness. By consistently asking for these, we are laying the foundation for a life pleasing to Allah, which is a path to immense forgiveness.

Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Indeed, the supplication of a servant is answered as long as it is not for sin or severance of kinship, as long as he does not become impatient." It was asked: 'O Messenger of Allah, how will one become impatient?' He said: 'He will say: I have supplicated, I have supplicated, but I have not seen an answer, and he gets discouraged and abandons the supplication.' (Sahih Muslim 2735). In another narration, Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, after he had said the taslim [at the end of the prayer], would say: 'O Allah, I ask You for knowledge that is useful, provision that is pure, and deeds that are acceptable.' (Sunan Ibn Majah 925, Sahih according to Al-Albani). *Note: The hadith from Sahih Muslim is referenced for the Prophet's ﷺ regular practice of this dua after Fajr, and its general acceptance by scholars. The fuller text from Sunan Ibn Majah further clarifies the content of the supplication.
