Forgiveness
Sahih HadithSunan At-Tirmidhi 1714

O Allah, I ask You for Your love, and the love of those who love You, and the deeds which will bring me to Your love. O Allah, make Your love dearer to me than myself, my family, and than cold water.

Allahumma inni as'aluka hubbaka wa hubba man yuhibbuk wal 'amalalladhi yuballighuni hubbak. Allahummaj'al hubbaka ahabba ilayya min nafsi wa ahli wa minal ma'il barid.

When to Read

This profound dua is perfect for reciting anytime you feel a need to deepen your connection with Allah. It's particularly beneficial during the quiet hours of the night, after your obligatory prayers, or when you are seeking greater sincerity in your actions and a stronger sense of purpose. Think of it as a daily tune-up for your heart, ensuring your love for the Creator remains the central focus of your life.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention and a present heart. Visualize Allah's greatness and His immense love for you. Understand that asking for His love is a request for Him to adorn your heart with a profound connection that surpasses all worldly attachments. Make it a habit, and let the words become a natural expression of your soul's yearning.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encompasses a beautiful request for three interconnected things: Allah's love, the love of those dear to Him, and the ability to perform deeds that lead to His pleasure. When our actions are driven by love for Allah, they become sincere and pleasing. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this dua, highlighting its importance in setting our priorities straight. By asking that Allah's love be dearer than oneself, family, or even cold water (a basic necessity), we are striving for the highest form of devotion, ensuring our obedience is motivated by pure love, not obligation alone.
