The Prophet (ﷺ) used to teach them [his companions] how to seek refuge with Allah from the torment of the Hell-fire and from the torment of the grave, saying: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min 'adhab al-nar wa 'adhab al-qabr, wa fitnat ad-dajjal, wa fitnat al-mahya wa al-ma'at.' (O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the punishment of the Fire and the punishment of the grave, and from the trial of the Dajjal, and from the affliction of life and death.) And the Prophet (ﷺ) said: 'When any one of you finishes his Tashahhud, he should seek refuge with Allah from four things, saying: Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min 'adhab jahannam, wa min 'adhab al-qabr, wa min fitnat al-mahya wal-ma'at, wa min shar fitnat ad-dajjal.' (O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the punishment of Hell, the punishment of the grave, the trial of life and death, and the evil of the trial of the False Messiah Dajjal.) Sahih al-Bukhari 6306
