بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الَّذِي لَا يَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهِ شَيْءٌ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِي السَّمَاءِ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ
In the name of Allah, with Whose name nothing on earth nor in the heavens can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
Bismillahi alladhi la yadurru ma'asmihi shay'un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama'i wa huwas-Samee'ul-Aleem
When to Read
This powerful dua is recommended to be recited three times in the morning and three times in the evening. As the evening descends, Shaytan and his whispers often become more prominent, making this a crucial time to seek Allah's protection.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, focusing on the meaning and seeking Allah's refuge. It's best recited when you are settling down for the evening, perhaps after Maghrib or before going to bed, to ward off any intrusive thoughts or doubts that might arise.
Virtues & Benefits
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this dua as a means of immense protection. Anyone who recites it morning and evening will be protected from all harm. This includes protection from physical ailments, harmful intentions, and importantly for the evening, the insidious whispers (waswasa) that can plague the mind, causing doubt in faith, fear, or anxiety.

Narrated by Uthman ibn Affan (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever says: 'Bismillah alladhi la yadurru ma'asmihi shay'un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama'i wa huwas-Samee'ul-Aleem' (In the name of Allah, with Whose name nothing on earth nor in the heavens can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing) three times in the morning, will not be afflicted by any calamity until the evening, and whoever says it three times in the evening, will not be afflicted by calamity until the morning."
