بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الَّذِي لَا يَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهِ شَيْءٌ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِي السَّمَاءِ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ

In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing on earth or in the heavens can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.

Bismillahil-ladhi la yadhurru ma'asmihi shay'un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama'i wa huwas-Samee'ul-'Aleem

When to Read

This powerful supplication is recommended to be recited in the evening, after Maghrib prayer, as part of our nightly remembrance (adhkar). It's a beautiful way to entrust ourselves and our night to Allah, seeking His ultimate protection from all harm.

How to Read

Recite this dua sincerely, with conviction in your heart that Allah alone is the protector. Take a moment to reflect on the meaning: acknowledging Allah's name as the shield against all potential dangers, seen and unseen. It is best recited three times each evening to maximize its benefit.

This dua offers comprehensive protection. By invoking Allah's name in this manner, we are essentially placing our trust in Him to ward off any calamities, illnesses, or misfortunes that might occur during the night. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ informed us that whoever recites this three times in the morning or evening, nothing will harm him that day or night. This covers physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Uthman ibn Affan (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever says: 'Bismillahil-ladhi la yadhurru ma'asmihi shay'un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama'i wa huwas-Samee'ul-'Aleem' (In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing on earth or in the heavens can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing), three times in the morning, he will not be afflicted by any calamity until the evening. And whoever says it three times in the evening, he will not be afflicted by any calamity until the morning.'
