اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ
O Allah, help me to remember You, to give thanks to You, and to worship You in the best manner.
Allahumma a'inni 'ala dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni 'ibadatika
When to Read
This powerful supplication is ideal to recite before commencing any act of worship, especially as evening approaches and you prepare for the night's worship (Qiyam al-Layl). It can be said after the 'Isha prayer or at any point before you intend to stand for prayer, remembrance, or any other act of devotion during the night.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and a humble heart. Understand that true worship isn't just about physical actions, but about the quality of our devotion, which is only possible with Allah's assistance. It's recommended to say it after completing your obligatory prayers or at a time when you are transitioning into acts of voluntary worship. Focus on each phrase: seeking help for remembrance (dhikr), gratitude (shukr), and excellence in worship (husn 'ibadah).
Virtues & Benefits
This dua directly asks Allah for the strength and ability to perform the core pillars of a strong relationship with Him: remembering Him constantly, being grateful for His countless blessings, and perfecting our acts of worship. By seeking Allah's help (a'inni), we acknowledge our own limitations and the immense power and grace required to truly connect with our Creator. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself taught this dua to his companion Mu'adh ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him), emphasizing its importance for anyone seeking to excel in their devotion.

Narrated Mu'adh ibn Jabal: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) took hold of my hand and said, "O Mu'adh, by Allah I love you, and by Allah I love you, and I advise you, O Mu'adh, do not fail to say after every prayer: اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ (Allahumma a'inni 'ala dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni 'ibadatika).
