When to Read

This beautiful declaration is recommended to be recited in the morning and also in the evening. Imagine the sun setting, casting a warm glow as you settle down for the night. In these moments of transition, this dua helps anchor our hearts, reminding us of the core tenets of our faith and fostering a sense of contentment before sleep.

How to Read

Recite this sincerely and with conviction. Reflect on the meaning of each phrase: acknowledging Allah's Lordship, His perfect religion, and the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as our guide. Say it with a heart full of gratitude and submission, allowing its peace to permeate your thoughts as you wind down.

Virtues & Benefits

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ promised a great reward for those who recite this dua: 'Whoever says it in the morning, I shall take him by the hand and suffice him in every need.' (Sahih al-Bukhari 6306). While this specific hadith mentions the morning, the general principle of seeking satisfaction in Allah, His Deen, and His Messenger applies to all times, especially the evening, fostering inner peace and security. It's a shield against discontent and worry, helping us accept Allah's decree with a tranquil heart.

Source & Authentication

It was narrated from Abu Malik Al-Ash'ari that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'He who says: 'Utrig billahi rabba, wabil Islami deena, wa bi Muhammadin nabiyya' (I am satisfied with Allah as Lord, Islam as religion, and Muhammad as Prophet) becomes entitled to Paradise.' It was also narrated from Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: 'Allah says: 'A servant has spoken the truth when he says: 'Raditu billahi rabba, wabil Islami deena, wa bi Muhammadin nabiyya' (I am satisfied with Allah as Lord, Islam as religion, and Muhammad as Prophet).' (This version is from Sahih Muslim 2313, and the version in Sahih al-Bukhari 6306 is similar, focusing on the morning recitation and its reward). In another narration from Sahih Muslim 2313, the Prophet (ﷺ) said: 'No servant has tasted the sweetness of faith until he says: 'Raditu billahi rabba, wabil Islami deena, wa bi Muhammadin nabiyya.' And for him, these words are a source of satisfaction.'
