In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing can harm on earth nor in the heavens, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.

Bismillahilladhi la yadurru ma'asmihi shay'un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama'i wa huwas-Sami'ul-'Aleem

When to Read

This powerful dua is recommended to be recited three times every morning and three times every evening. It's a shield against all forms of harm, whether physical, spiritual, or from unseen sources. Imagine the sun setting, and as the world prepares for rest, you engage in this act of remembrance. You're essentially placing yourself and your loved ones under Allah's direct protection for the coming night.

How to Read

Recite the full dua sincerely, with conviction in Allah's power. Some narrations mention that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this dua to his companion Uthman ibn Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) when he was suffering from a painful ailment. Uthman recited it, and his ailment began to improve. The Prophet ﷺ then explained that no one who says this three times in the morning will be afflicted by sudden calamity until evening, and no one who says it three times in the evening will be afflicted by sudden calamity until morning. This emphasizes the importance of consistency and the specific number of repetitions.

Virtues & Benefits

The primary benefit of reciting this dua is seeking Allah's protection from all harm. The hadith clearly states that reciting it three times in the morning guarantees safety until evening, and three times in the evening guarantees safety until morning. This protection encompasses physical dangers, illnesses, the evil eye, envy, and even spiritual harm. It's a profound expression of reliance (tawakkul) on Allah, acknowledging that true safety and well-being are solely in His hands.
